Arun Vishnu & Aparna Balan team up for mixed doubles in badminton and they have won the country plenty many accolades with their performances. They share their views about national championships which they won recently for the 3rd consecutive year and about their partnership.

National Championships 2016…

We won this year’s national  championship quite comfortably compared to last 2 years, beating our opponents in straight sets.

National championship title win…

We are very happy in the hat-trick win and we are hoping to maintain this winning streak. At the same time we are determined and looking forward to perform well at the International level.

Partnership…

We are from the same place (Calicut, Kerala). We have been playing together from childhood onward under the same coach Mr. A. Nazar. So we know each other very well on court and off court. As far as doubles is concerned understanding the partner is very important.

Standards of national championships…

Now, standard of National Championship is very high. It is mainly because of the fact that Badminton Association of India have made participation of players in the National Championship mandatory. Due to this the level of competition is at its best.

Indian badminton development…

Since we have started playing, Badminton in India has come a long way. Badminton Association of India organized round the year national camp, conducted Indian Badminton League and besides that three international tournaments were conducted in India.  Now unlike before players train under one roof under the watchful eyes of experienced coaches round the year. All this has helped in the growth of Indian Badminton over the years. So credit of recent growth of Indian Badminton goes to Badminton Association of India, its Players and Coaches.
